How does LubeWatch compare to preventative maintenance?

Preventative maintenance relies on generic service intervals per equipment type. That often means oil is drained sooner than necessary and parts are replaced before they need to be. The industry is shifting towards a predictive approach: through regular testing, LubeWatch tracks the actual condition of your vehicles and equipment, so you service them when the data says it's time — not when the calendar does.

How does the LubeWatch process work?

Sampling is straightforward. Analysis kits include a cap, tubing, sample bottles and paperwork with pre-addressed shipping labels. Sample information can be submitted online or via the LubeWatch app; pre-registering samples is the fastest way to get them logged and tested, with less paperwork and fewer errors. Because only a small quantity of fluid is needed, sample quality is critical: use a clean bottle, close it tightly and wipe off any excess oil before shipping.

What are the steps to get started?

1) Set up an online account so sample information goes directly to the LubeWatch laboratory. 2) Order sampling kits through Chevron Business Point (CBP). 3) Take the sample and submit the details online, via the app or on the sample label form. 4) Ship the sample in the pre-addressed LubeWatch envelope and receive your results by email or online.

How should oil samples be taken?

Result accuracy depends on sample quality: sampling from the wrong place or at the wrong time can mask damage or lead to wrong guidance. The best samples are taken with the machine running at normal operating temperature, though methods like a vacuum pump require a shutdown — follow the sampling guideline on Chevron Business Point. Establish the right process per machine, then always sample the same way from the same point. Flush about a litre of oil from the sampling point first to remove trapped water or debris, never re-use disposable tubing, and fill the LubeWatch bottle at the sampling point.
