Team Godrive claims an impressive podium finish at the Ypres Rally
The Ypres Rally delivered a dream result for Team Godrive. Vincent Verschueren and Mathieu Vynckier immediately found the right rhythm, stayed faultless and managed to finish one of the most important rallies of the season with an unexpected third place.
From the very first kilometres, the feeling in the Skoda Fabia Rally2 was right. During Thursday’s Qualifying Stage, it became clear that the team had a strong basis to work from. The car felt competitive and the setup gave the confidence needed to start the rally weekend with ambition.
On Friday afternoon, the conditions became particularly demanding. During the first loop, the road temperature rose above fifty degrees, making the car initially feel a little too hard. After targeted setup adjustments, everything felt right again and Vincent and Mathieu were able to continue building their pace.
A weekend where everything came together
By Friday evening, the duo had already climbed to fourth place. On Saturday morning, despite a difficult and rainy start, the podium came increasingly within reach. The conditions were tricky, but Vincent and Mathieu remained focused, drove without mistakes and kept the pressure on their direct competitors.
One of the key moments came on SS Watou. The team had started on four hard slick tyres, just as it began to rain. In such a situation, one mistake can quickly be heavily punished. Yet the duo kept their cool and remained competitive on the stage.
After that, Vincent continued to set very strong times. At certain moments, he was even faster than some of his direct competitors, while also keeping the pressure from behind under control. In the final stages, it was all about driving smart: managing the advantage, avoiding unnecessary risks and bringing the car safely to the finish.
That was easier said than done. Due to the heat, the concentration required and the high pace, the final stages were physically very demanding. Nevertheless, the team held firm and their hard work was rewarded with a magnificent podium finish.

Fifth podium in Ypres for Vincent
For Vincent Verschueren, this was another special moment. After previous podium finishes in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2021, he stood on the podium in Ypres for the fifth time. For co-driver Mathieu Vynckier, it was his first podium in Ypres, making the result even more special.
Mathieu could look back on a dream result. After earlier successes together with Vincent, including victories in Kortrijk and the TAC Rally, this podium finish in Ypres marked another important highlight. It was a tough weekend, but above all one in which the team was rewarded for its dedication.
